Where is ITIKI now?
The Big Picture
We planned 3-4 seasons in the Med (our first season was a short one, as we started in August 2018) with trips back to Australia in the Northern winter. We managed one and 2 half seasons in total. Covid messed things up in 2020 and ITIKI waited on the hardstand in Leros for 20 months whilst we cooled our heels in Australia. We eventually left Greece in August 2021, transited the Med fairly quickly and crossed the Atlantic in December 2021. We cruised the Lesser Antilles through to June 2022 and then ITIKI was lifted out and strapped down in Carriacou, Grenada for hurricane season. She was safe there but we dodge a bullet because two years later, sadly the Island was smashed by Hurrican Beryl, taking a direct hit, which wrecked many boats.
We returned to Grenada in October '22, headed to Martinique to pick up our Parasailor and then crossed the Caribbean, westbound. After a wonderful month in Columbia, we transited the Panama in early 2023 into the wide expanse of the Pacific, and on the home stretch. ITIKI made landfall in Australia in Bundaberg, in October 2023 and we cruised down the east coast, looking for somewhere to call home. As we all know however, some of the best laid plans can come undone and sometimes the things you don’t plan can turn out to be the most rewarding. We ended up in SE Tasmania and after house sitting at Surges Bay and loving it, we bought our own place here and ITIKI is moored out front. Our cruising continues....
